PGA rapid sutures are synthetic, absorbable, braided surgical threads made from polyglycolic acid designed for short-term soft tissue closure.
The suture composition is 90% glycolic acid and 10% lactic acid copolymerization. The coating is poly (glycolide-co-L lactide) and Calcium stearate with a visible violet color.
This coating material provides non-capillarity and enables the suture to easily and reliably glide without damaging itself while tying knots.
PGA Rapid sutures are indicated for short-term tissue operations and provide high tensile strength, high knot safety, and lower suture memory.
PGA Rapid sutures support wounds for approximately 10-14 days and are fully absorbed by the body in approximately 40-45 days.
The tensile strength is about 50% on the 5th day and completely loosened on the 14th day with 0% wound support. PGA Rapid features excellent tensile strength, knot-tying ability, and minimum tissue reaction.
